From medical devices to at-home skincare
CEO Lee Yu-jin, a graduate in electronic engineering, brought extensive experience in developing diagnostic devices such as glucometers and urine analyzers. However, the high barriers to entering the medical market prompted the company to pivot. In 2016, RECLAR launched its first product—the Ritual Peeler—combining several patented technologies. His fascination with Korean culture and its approach to skincare inspired him to introduce this unique concept to Czech consumers. "I wanted to not only understand why the RECLAR Peeler is so exceptional but also share the excitement about the meticulous way Koreans care for themselves. It’s not just women—men also devote significant attention to their skin," Honza explains.
From doubts to enthusiasm
Honza was soon joined by Alena Diva, who was initially skeptical about a tech-based skincare product. “At first, I thought it was just another unnecessary ‘revolutionary’ novelty. But personal experience and the stories of our customers convinced me otherwise. RECLAR isn’t just about superficial care—it’s a tool that truly enhances beauty rituals,” says Alena.
Innovation and science at the fore front
Since its initial success, RECLAR has continued to innovate. In 2019, after five years of analyzing user data, the company identified skin cell regeneration as the key to healthy skin. This breakthrough led to the establishment of its own Cosmetics Research Institute in 2020. Two years later, RECLAR launched a foundational line of cosmetics tailored to different skin types.
